The end of the world in 2012 stems from an old myth taken decades ago by a few enlightened writers looking for inspiration.
The story begins with the Sumerians (- 4000 to - 1750 BC approximately) have discovered that the hypothetical planet "Nibiru" (3), in our solar system, orbiting the sun with a revolution (4) of 3600 years. According to the calculations of the Sumerians called, Niribu would collide with Earth in 2003 and finally 2012 ... However, NASA scientists are adamant there is no hidden planet in our solar system that could collide with Earth in 2012. If this were the case, astronomers could follow it for over 10 years and is currently visible to the naked eye.
This legend was then crossed with the alleged purpose of the ancient Mayan calendar scheduled for December 21, 2012. If schedules are convenient to organize and plan their schedule, they still do not predict the future ...
